Week of June 16
Hello everyone,
It's hard to believe it's the last week of school already! Most of my grades are done and on Powerschool. However, they will not appear until I upload them at school tomorrow. Work that was late or resubmitted has not been put on Powerschool yet. That will happen over the next few days.
It has been a great year. In looking back, I am quite impressed with the amount of growth in our seventh graders this year. Not only are most children better students, they are more mature and responsible. After studying different parts of the world, I hope they now see learning as something they should not take for granted. I am sad that I will not be their teacher in the fall when the presidential campaign will be fully underway. They understand so much more about democracy now than they did at the beginning of seventh grade. (Only forty percent of the world's population live in democracies.) In reflecting on current events, most students commented on how fortunate they feel to be growing up where they live. Parents, you might want to remind your child of this from time to time over the
summer! :)
The schedule for this week is subject to change. Tomorrow is our last scheduled day of full classes. Students will answer questions on Nicholas and Alexandra while I pass back student work. Afterwards, students will write a final note which we will deliver to our book buddies at Wilson school. It looks like the weather may mess up our plans to go to Sebago or for field day on Wednesday, so stay tuned for alternative plans. On Thursday, we will be having a team breakfast. Notes went out on Friday with requests for donations. Each advisory has a different item to bring. We will be having short class on that day and will end the day with a schoolwide slide show. Thursday is an 11:15 release.
It has truly been a wonderful experience working with your child. I've been in this business a long time and I still love it. I think that is because every year I work with different students who present me with new opportunities. As you know from living with them, adolescents change from day to day (and sometimes minute to minute!). There's nothing ever dull or boring in seventh grade. I hope you have a great summer!
Enjoy!
