Regularly scheduled homework/classwork:
Monday, or the first day of the week, students are assigned a weekly spelling list. There will be a worksheet to be completed by Friday, or the last day of a school week. Students use their spelling words to complete the Vocabulary Notebooks. Your child should have the golden colored directions sheet pasted inside the cover of the notebook. These notebooks are due on Thursday of each week unless otherwise noted. The spelling worksheet and the spelling test is due Friday, unless otherwise directed due to a short week or special event.

Writing: assignments are often given to be completed at home. Poetry project has been created and was due 2/15/08. Students had the rough draft of a Tall Tale due 3/6/08, with the final copy due 3/12/08. Students told their Tall Tale to the class the week of 3/24/08. Students used props/simple costumes to enhance their performance of the Tall Tale. Students could use note cards with the major ideas from the Tall Tale during their presentations.

Reading: students should read at least 20 minutes a night after completing homework. The books read at this time will be used for various free reading book projects. Currently, students are completing the 5th of the required 6 BOOK MARKS. Students must read and complete a minimum of  6 BOOK MARKS this year. The BOOK MARKS are available from their L/A teacher. This fifth BOOK MARK is due 4/30/08. Students need to have their book approved by the L/A teacher prior to reading the book. Students are expected to read books from at least six different genres this year.
