Sketching Assignments-7th Grade #1 Place an object of your choosing on the table in front of you.  Using PEN, do a drawing of the object from observation.  Be sure to include lots of detail, and consider adding shading and/or shadow to make your drawing more complete.  Now select a second object to add to the first, and repeat the drawing on another page with both objects together.  Lastly, add a third object to the other two and do a drawing of all three object together in a mini still life.  Remember, these are drawings done directly in pen, no pre-drawing with pencil. #2 Do two landscape drawings of two different scenes.  You may sketch it in pencil first, but the end product should be in color.  One landscape drawing should be from a photograph (look in magazines, on the internet, or a photo album for scenes), and the other should be from real life observation of an actual landscape around you.  This is most easily done by looking outside one of your windows, but if conditions allow you can also work directly outdoors.  Your landscape MUST be in color, but you may use any material to add the color.  Paints, crayons, colored pencils, markers, etc., or any other color materials you have available. #3  Create a color “word illustration” using your name.  A word illustration is a written word where each letter of the word is made out of things that relate to, or are associated with that words meaning.  For instance, the letters for the word “ocean” might be created out of fish, boats, sea birds, lobster traps, waves, whales, sea weed, etc., arranged together in such a way to form letters and make a readable word.  Your word illustration will be of your name created out of all the things that you can think of that relate to you.  Favorite hobbies, animals, sports, foods, music groups, tv characters, thing that you are interested in, instrument you play, places you like to go, things you like to do, etc.  You may use pencil to start, but as with the landscapes, you will eventually need to add color. Please:  -read all directions carefully               -have all your drawings IN your sketch pad               -have your name ON your sketch pad                       Due date:  -Wednesday, April 30th ***Extra Credit:  Create a color landscape on your laptop using the AppleWorks paint program.  Your landscape must fill the page and should include lots of details and textures, and look as realistic as possible.   These drawings will count as three homework assignments, and represent 15% of your final grade.
