At our Meetings:

3/12/09
We saw the long-term solutions!  Looks awesome! We're in a great place...

1/22/09
We worked through 2 hands on spontaneous problems and 1 verbal problem.

***Tips for spontaneous:
  • You can not pass, so if you get stuck build on another answer...
  • Remember that parents are judges--- keep it appropriate and no personal jokes!  We don't get those!
1/13/09
1 - Spontaneous Problems
The kids entertained us all with some great answers to some verbal spontaneous problems.  If anyone is looking for spontaneous problems to practice, this page has TONS: [Link]http://www.geocities.com/nepaootmspon/

2 - Long Term Problems
All the teams checked in and their problems seems to be going very well.

3 -  Fundraising
We discussed 2 upcoming fundraisers:
        - Dance at Westcustago - Date TBA
        - Bottle Drive - we'll set up a Clynk account and will get each kid a bag next week!  Once the bags are filled, they can be dropped off at Hannaford's and the the OM Clynk account will get the credit.

4 - Important Dates
We'll be posting meeting dates and important information on an Odyssey page that Jacey and I will link to from our pages on the GMS site.  If any coaches want us to post specific information for their teams, let us know.  Until that is posted, important dates to keep in mind are:
  • 1/21 (Wed) - Next spontaneous practice in Room 212
  • 1/24 (Portland), 1/31 (Bath) - OM-organized spontaneous practice.  Talk to us or the coaches if there is any interest in attending these.
  • 3/28 - Tournament Day!  Sanford HS
5 - Judges and Volunteers
Your kids signed you up!  We're still looking for a judge for the Teach yer Creature team.  This is a day-long commitment the day of the tournament, plus a training day.  It's a long day, but definitely fun and you'll get to see lots of creative problem solutions.  If you're interested (even if your child is on another team), let us know!  We have to send in our final list of judges and volunteers by Thursday, so tell us soon.  Also, if any volunteers would like to "upgrade" to a judge spot, Jacey or I could fill your volunteer spot.

Just so you know, here is who we have down for each team:

Heracles
Judge - Barb Armstrong
Volunteer - Patti Richards (?)

Teach yer Creature
Judge -  ???
Volunteer - Becky Sledjeski

Superstition
Judge - Gwenne Oberg
Volunteer -  Debra Lyden

Let us know if there are any mistakes!

6 - Money for long-term problems
Each problem has a set spending limit, which the kids are pretty aware of.  Any money they spend out-of-pocket will be reimbursed at the end of the season, so they should make sure to keep their receipts.

I think that's it!  Let us know if you have any questions!

Thanks for all you do to support the teams,
Heather Miller
Jacey Morrill
