CH 5.6
11/27/07
CH 5.5: Point-Slope Form
CH 5.6: Parallel and Perpendicular Lines
Students are introduced to the point-slope form of a line. This is an introduction only and will not be assessed at this time.
Students are also introduced to NO HOMEWORK DUE TO FAMILY FIRST NIGHT
11/26/07
Review of chapter 5.
HW: p.831: 5-1: 1,3,5,7,11
p.831: 5-2: 1,5,7
p.831: 5-3: 1,3,5,7,11
p.832: 5-4: 1,3,7,15,17
Test on Chapter 5 FRIDAY!!!
11/16/07
FUNCTION FAMILY ACTIVITY
11/15/07
CH 5.4: Equations in Slope-Intercept Form
11/14/07
CH 5.3: Slope-Intercept Form
Students look at slope-intercept form. y = mx + b where the b is the y-intercept and the m is the slope.
HW: p.275: 15-43 odd
11/13/07
CH 5.2: Slope and Direct Variation
Students look at direct variation. y = k x where k is a a non-zero constant. We investigated the direct variation family of functions which always pass throug the origin (0,0).
HW: p.268: 15-20 all, 21-39 odd
11/9/07
CH 5.1: Slope
Students begin working with slope of linear equations.
HW: p.260:15-33 and 41-47 odd
11/8/07
TEST on sequences

TEST on 4.1-4.6 NEXT MONDAY
10/24/07:
4.6
Students work on function notation...
HW PACKET
TEST on 4.1-4.6 NEXT MONDAY
10/23/07:
4.6
Students work on function notation. f(x) = 3x + 8
HW p230: 32-42 all
TEST on 4.1-4.6 NEXT MONDAY
10/22/07:
4.5-4.6
Students work on graphing using intercepts--- this method is best when in standard form. The class continued with a definition of a function (each value of the domain (x) has a unique value of the range (y)) as well as how to identify whether or not a set of numbers is a function.
HW p221: 26-36 even
p223: 62-66 even
p229: 17-31 odd
TEST on 4.1-4.6 NEXT MONDAY
10/19/07:
4.5
Students began graphing linear equations using a t-chart... plugging in x-values and getting out y-values. Standard form is discussed.
HW p221: 17-31 odd
10/18/07:
4.4
Students worked on using equations to show relations.
HW p214: 17-39 odd, 40-41
10/17/07:
Students completed the chapter 3 test.
10/16/07:
Students reveiwed and practiced more solving equation problems. REMEMBER!!! SLOW DOWN. CHECK YOUR WORK!
10/15/07:
Students went over test from chapter 3. We will revisit and a retest will be given on Wednesday. In general, students made "simple" errors not conceptual errors. SLOW DOWN. CHECK YOUR WORK!
HW p826: 3-5--- 1-10
p827: 3-6--- 4-12
10/12/07:
Review Sheets
Students review sections 4.1-4.3
10/11/07:
4.3
Students work on the idea of expressing relations using a variety of methods.
10/10/07:
4.1 and 4.2
Students recalled the coordinate plane and the associated vocabulary.
