Article Scrapbook

During this school year, you will read several science articles that are related to our units of study.  The purpose of this is to build a greater understanding of what the current body of research is regarding the content we are learning in school.  The work will also connect to unit specific essential questions and will serve as a connection between the work we do in school and the work that scientists are currently doing.

There are a number of important things to consider as you begin to put your scrapbook together, including:

Time management!  You will need a total of about 1-2 articles for each unit of study for the remainder of the year.  This works out to about 1-3 articles per trimester. Take advantage of class and homework time to get your work done efficiently.  Don't use all that time searching for the perfect article!

The writing process will be incorporated into this work.  This means that you will be expected to engage in prewriting, writing, revising, editing, and ultimately, publishing for the scrapbook.
