Re: Late Bus Usage
The late bus drivers have been experiencing an increase in students trying to ride the
late bus without a pass or with falsified passes. I am writing to you to enlist your
help in monitoring the usage of the late bus.
The late bus was a service established for the students that participate in after school
activities or need to meet with a teacher. The teacher or coach must provide their
signature for the student that stayed after and wants to take the late bus. Coaches
can give the driver a list of students that are participating in after school activities in
lieu of a pass. Students that want to stay after to visit with friends or go to the store
must find their own way home.
You can help by communicating with the students, teachers and coaches that the bus
drivers will diligently inspect the bus passes and will not permit students to ride
without proper signatures on their passes. You can further help by making sure the
students that stay for legitimate reasons have an authorized signature from the
teacher or coach that was with them after school. A student will not receive a pass
from the librarian unless they have been in the library the entire time or have a note
from their teacher/coach.
Not only is riding the late bus without a sanctioned reason an abuse of the service,
but it is also a safety hazard. Too many students are unattended in the parking lots
and on school property. I appreciate your assistance in this matter.
