Assistive Technology

Assistive technology in education are devices and services to support the needs of an individual learner as determined by the IEP (Individual Education Plan) Examples include switches, touch screens, Braille display, Augmentative Communication devices such as a dynavox.
The Individuals with Disabilities Act of 1997 (IDEA) is the legislation that requires Assistive Technology to be considered in the development of the IEP for students in special education.
